What World Cup mode is

A free browser football draft game with a tournament at the end of it. The reel deals a random national team and a decade — Brazil in the 1970s, France in the 1990s, Japan in the 2000s — and you draft one real player from that squad. Eleven spins later your cross-era XI enters a World Cup: a group of four, then four knockout rounds against the strongest national sides ever rated, with penalties whenever a tie is level.

Seven matches is all it takes to win it, and any one of them can end the run. Your grade is how far you went — group exit to world champion — and winning every match outright, no shootouts, is the perfect run: fewer than one in a hundred drafts manage it.

Real caps, not invented ratings

Every player card shows real career international caps and goals compiled from Wikidata, across 44 national teams from the 1930s to today. Drafting well means knowing football history, not memorising a rating system. Prefer league football? The same eleven picks can play a 38-game season instead on the league page.
