Flawless is a free browser game. It has no sign-up, and it never asks for your name, email address, password, date of birth, or payment details. This page is a plain description of the data the site does handle, why, and how to get rid of it.

What is stored on your own device

Two things are kept in your browser’s local storage and are never transmitted to us:

Clearing your browser’s site data for flawless.football erases both, permanently and immediately. Nothing about them exists anywhere else.

The Daily, and the anonymous identifier

The Daily puzzle is the one mode with a server behind it, because the day’s spins are dealt one at a time so nobody can see the sequence in advance, and results are verified rather than taken on trust. To do that it needs to tell one player from another across a single day, so it uses Firebase anonymous authentication: your browser is issued a random identifier. It is not linked to an email address, a name, a social account, or any identity you have anywhere else, and we cannot use it to find out who you are.

Against that identifier we store, in Google Firestore:

The leaderboard shows points, grade and rank. It does not show a name, because we do not have one.

Analytics and performance

We use Google Analytics 4 to count how the game is used — pages viewed, runs started and finished, which modes people choose. The events record what happened in the game (mode, grade, whether the run was drafted blind), never anything about you personally. We also use Firebase Performance Monitoring to measure page load and network timings, so we can tell when the site is slow.

Both are provided by Google, which sets cookies or equivalent identifiers to do this. You can opt out of Google Analytics across every site using Google’s official opt-out add-on, and most browsers offer tracking protection that blocks it as well.

Advertising

This site intends to carry advertising through Google AdSense to cover its costs, and is currently in review. When ads are running, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure them. Google’s own explanation of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can control the ads you are shown at Google My Ad Center. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you will be asked for consent before any personalised advertising is served.

Where the data lives, and how long

Site hosting, the database and the server functions all run on Google Firebase, which may process and store data outside your country. Daily session records exist for the day they belong to and the leaderboard they feed; streak records persist so that your streak still works tomorrow. Analytics data is retained under Google Analytics’ standard retention settings.

Children

Flawless is a football game with no chat, no user-generated content, no purchases and no social features. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

Because there is no account, most of the control is directly in your hands: clearing site data removes your saved runs, the anonymous identifier, and with it the link to any Daily record. If you would like a specific Daily record removed, or you have a question about any of the above, write to us — the address is on the about page.

Changes

If this policy changes materially — a new processor, a new category of data — the date at the top of this page changes with it.
